It’s the last day of our Penang road trip! Honestly, 5 days doesn’t feel like enough time to fully enjoy both Penang and Kuala Lumpur. I wish we had more time to explore each area more thoroughly.

ToggleWe left our Airbnb around 10 am and headed straight to Farm In The City, which is conveniently along the way to Johor Bahru. The drive took about 30-40 minutes, which is a great place to start the day and have lunch before heading to JB.
Parking is free and limited, so do be there early or you can park along the road side just outside the zoo.
There are a few photo taking area at the drop off point, where you can take a few photos with the kids.
Day 5: Penang Road Trip From Kuala Lumpur to Johor Bahru
Farm In The City

We bought the tickets from Klook, which cost about $11 for adults and $9 for children.
When we visited, it happened to be during Malaysia’s National Day month, so there were a few promotions and activities. One of the activities we tried is batik cloth painting right at the entrance. The lady teaching the batik painting was very patient and showed my kids how to outline and paint.

Farm In The City is like a mini zoo set in a traditional kampung (village) environment. Because of this setting, you can interact with animals that roam freely in the open. There are over 100 species of animals and 60 species of plants and vegetables.

Besides feeding animals, they have a few keepers and stations that allows you to interact, touch and hold the animals.

We spent almost 2 hours at the farm, but personally, I feel you could spend around 3-4 hours for a more eventful trip. Since we had to head toward Johor for our buffet lunch, we couldn’t stay too long!
Due to our tight schedule, we decided to have lunch at the farm. You can actually go out to eat, as there are a few eateries just opposite Farm In The City. The food at the farm is passable, but the wait time can be quite long.

Econsave Hypermart at Johor Bahru
It’s about a 4-hour drive from Farm In The City to our buffet spot at Kuroma, but we arrived early, so we decided to stop by Econsave Hypermart, which is just an 8-minute drive away, to do some grocery shopping. It was our first time visiting this hypermart—very large and similar to NSK Wholesale Hypermart.

Kuroma Buffer at Johor Bahru
Previously, my husband and I went to Kuroma buffet for lunch, so this time we decided to bring our friends and kids along to try the dinner. They’re popular for sashimi, fresh seafood, and oysters. For dinner, we paid roughly SGD $60 per adult and SGD $25-30 per child.
Dinner is usually a lot more lively, with extra seafood options and even a chef dancing!

Conclusion
That’s the end of my 5D4N Penang road trip! It was tiring, and you can see that toward the end, I took fewer photos and videos—I was too worn out. But overall, it was a great experience for us! We’ll definitely plan another road trip soon! Continue to follow my travel journey!
