If you are looking for things to do in Bangkok, especially for a girls’ trip, my two girlfriends had already planned a trip to Bangkok in October last year, so they asked me to join them. I was like, why not? It felt like a good break from the kids and hubby, some proper me-time and girls’ time.

I was really excited. Even though we didn’t plan a lot and it was a short 4D3N trip, it was still kind of my first real girlfriends’ trip (not counting work trips or company/colleagues’ trips).

I actually visited Bangkok in February too, so it was nice to be back again, just to enjoy the food and shopping. This time, I flew with Singapore Airlines, and this is what I had on board!

Where We Stay In Bangkok Hotel

We stayed in The Berkeley Hotel Pratunam, which is recommended by my friend. The hotel is located at the central location, so it’s very convenient! They have family rooms so it’s very popular among tourists who have big families.

The hotel is just beside a shopping mall which is linked.

We booked the room without the breakfast. But we did try, but honestly I feel the breakfast is average. It’s good to have it if you have young kids that are not suitable for street food or you wake up late and are too lazy to go out for a meal.

The room we stayed in is a luxury quadruple room, which can sleep up to 5 people. There’s a lot of space to place our luggage too.

Happen to be our friend, Vanny’s birthday so Nicole requested a birthday setup.

What We Ate In Bangkok

NAME Japanese & Seafood Buffet Bangkok

Our first meal in Bangkok right after we touched down was at NAMA Japanese & Seafood Buffet. It’s located at Centara Grand at CentralWorld. The lobby staff were super nice. They let us leave our luggage at the lobby so we could head up and enjoy our buffet lunch.

We paid about S$48 per person for the buffet lunch. For the variety, quality, and freshness of the food, I would say it was worth it. There was sashimi, grilled seafood, BBQ meats, Japanese fruits and desserts, and so much more.

The buffet price we paid also comes with an exclusive menu per person, and all of choose the beef tongue with foie gras.

The beef tongue and foe gras is really good.

Kin Moo Tod Bangkok

This eating place is actually near our photoshoot area. We were very hungry, so we just randomly went into a Thai shop with aircon. And Kin Moo Tod looks very legit. The food is not bad, but the one that leaves me a deep impression is cripsy pork. It’s really delicious. By the way, they only accept cash when I visit, so do prepare cash when you are there.

Home Cafe

This Home cafe is near our hotel, it’s inside a small alley, which is about a 5 minute walk from the hotel. The cafe really has a very homely and cosy feel.

We DIY our breakfast, their portion is really good for the pricing. The only thing is, you may need to wait for a while because only 2 people are handling all the orders and preparing the food.

Things To Do In Bangkok

Traditional Thai Photoshoot in Bangkok

We had our Thai costume photoshoot with Sang Arun. We paid about 2500THB for the makeup and 2500THB for the photographer, which is about SGD45plus / USD35plus per person. The shoot comes with full makeup, accessories, shoes and bag.

I recommend going as early as possible, we were there around 8am. There is only one person doing makeup, and after 9am onwards, the crowd starts coming in. Plus, doing shoot in the morning is also much more cooling in the afternoon. Because by the time we finished our shoot, it was around 1230pm.

Sang Arun is actually quite popular, and I do agree that their clothes are really nice and good quality. Choosing clothes does take awhile, so do plan your time wisely. You can start by deciding what colour suits your skin tone.

The staff will fold a portion of the clothes and place it on your body to see if you are ok with the design and colour.

Overall the experience, I would say, is not too bad, just that the place is really quite cramped and small. Especially when we are done with our makeup, we barely have space to walk because a lot of people are coming in to have their makeup done and choosing clothes. Photographers are randomly assigned, and poses are about the same, so if you have no idea how to pose, the photographer will guide you.

Thai Student Uniform Photoshoot

When my girlfriends went for their beauty treatments, I decided to go for another photoshoot, which is student uniform! Thai student uniform photoshoot is one of the must do in Bangkok also! I did it with Mila Studio, which is around the same area as our Thai costume photoshoot.

I paid about 2800 THB which is around SGD$100+ / USD84+ which comes with a full makeup, outfit and photographer. I got all the raw unedited photos back. By the way, for both photoshoots, they will transfer all the raw photos directly to you, so make sure you have enough data to receive all the photos.

After my makeup was done, it started to rain heavily. I waited for almost 2 hours, but there was no sign of stopping, so I ended up having the shoot indoors. When it was slightly drizzling, we had a quick outdoor shoot before it started raining heavily again. So better to plan your shoot date wisely!

Drag Queen at The Stranger Bar

the stranger bar house of drag queen

My friend Nicole suggested we go to The Stranger Bar to watch the drag queen show. Honestly the show was very good. I really admire the creativity and the effort that all the performances put in. It’s good to make a reservation or be there early to get a good seat. You guys have to watch it yourself.

The ticket price is 200 THB (SGD7+/USD6+) and the ticket comes with 1 alcohol drink and 1 non-alcohol drink. I wish the places came with snacks, but they don’t, and no outside food is allowed.

Do bring small notes so you can tip your favourite drag queen during the show. It’s also nice to tip them for the performance and effort!
