If you’re looking for a kid-friendly hotel in Yilan, Taiwan, you should definitely check out Silks Place Yilan. The moment I reached level 6, where the hotel lobby is located, I thought, Oh my god, my kids are going to love this place! I saw a few electric cars parked in the lobby, along with posters and merchandise featuring the hotel’s mascot. I was so excited to explore all the kids’ activities this hotel have!

Silks Place Yilan Hotel Room

I stayed in the Superior Room with a king-size bed. I really loved the spacious layout, and their pillows were my favorite in terms of firmness and thickness.

Super love my balcony view which overlook the hotel outdoor pool, R&R and Yilan City. Just feel sad that it’s raining throughout my stay.

Although I didn’t stay in the family room, I was given a tour of it. It is spacious and features a tent setup, their mascot soft toy (which the child can take home), and an adorable toothbrush and toothpaste set. They will also placed one electric toy car in the room!

Silks Place Yilan Hotel Facilities

Silks Place Yilan positions itself as a family-friendly themed hotel, offering a variety of activities for the whole family.

Electric Car Ride

As mentioned earlier, kids are welcome to ride electric toy cars in the hotel, especially if they are staying on the 8th or 9th floor. They can visit the car station, choose their favorite car, and ride along the corridor on their floor. For the more adventurous, they can choose a police car, put on a police uniform, and complete assigned tasks.

The driving corridor is a dedicated space for kids to drive around. With such a long and spacious area, even I also felt excited!

They even have traffic light, and kids have to obey the rules. How cool is that!

The kid can even park their car outside the room at the designated parking space.

Fantasy Castle

Fantasy Castle is located at 8 floor, which is an open space for kids to have fun. They have various attractions such as the Rainbow slide, Ball Ball Pool, bouncy bee “Do Do,” electric cars, a driving school, and the Oh Woo Oh House.

Unfortunately, it rained throughout my stay, so I couldn’t fully experience or capture a good photo of the Fantasy Castle. My photo doesn’t do it justice since it wasn’t fully set up

Free Latest Movie

All hotel guests can enjoy unlimited movies during their stay at LUNA Digital Cinemax! You just need to go to the lobby counter to choose and book tickets in advance. After that, you can take the designated elevator to the movie theater. All movie sessions are available, except for the VIP Hall. You can check out more information here.

Club LeFoon

Wellness Spa

The spa really looks great, but we didn’t manage to do any! I would really recommend couples to do it while you drop off your kids!

Spa

Swimming Pool & Saunas

I did manage to find time for the sauna and water spa since their closing time is later than the main spa. Proper swimwear and a swim cap are required to use the facilities. There are both outdoor and indoor pools. For the indoor pool, the kids’ pool is located at the far corner, which is great because kids can still play even if it’s raining. You can check out my IG video below to see me enjoying the water spa and sauna.

Instead of going back to your hotel room to shower, you can use the shower facilities at Club Lefoon. They are well-equipped and clean, with Dyson hair dryers and a full range of skin and hair care products provided.

Gym

Their gym is divided into two areas: one side is a multipurpose room for yoga, Pilates, and aerobics classes, while the other side is the gym. Although it’s small, the equipment available is sufficient for my needs. The gym’s opening hours are from 7 AM to 11 PM.

Dining At Silks Place Yilan

Dinner at Red Lantern Yilan

After checking in to our hotel room and hotel tour, we went for our dinner at Red Lantern. Red Lantern resturant is famous for their Cherry Valley Roast duck 5 eat cuisine that is specially curated by Chef Jeffrey Lin.

silks place yilan red lantern

We start off with the appetizer, which is actually quite a lot. A total of 8 dishes. All are really good, but my favourite is the cold steam chicken, plum tomatoes and squid.

Here comes the highlight! The chefs push in a table with two Cherry Valley Roasted Ducks—it smells amazing! After that, the chef starts carving the duck while his assistants begin preparing all five dishes made with the roasted duck. It’s so satisfying to watch! 真是聚集视觉,味觉和舌尖上的享受!

The 5 eats of Cherry valley Roasted Duck consists of Stew duck tongue, wings and flippers, Roasted Duck Sushi, Slice Duck meat and skin wrapped in a light scallion crepe, three-cup duck and double-boiled duck bone soup with chinese cabbage.

Among the 5 dishes, I love the roasted duck sushi and the double-boiled duck bone soup. The crispy roasted duck skin, when bitten into, releases duck oil that bursts into the vinegar sushi rice—so delicious and not greasy at all. It’s the perfect combination! Tip: It’s best enjoyed warm!

The double-boiled duck soup looks rich, but it’s not heavy or oily at all. The sweetness of the Chinese cabbage makes the soup even tastier. I ended up having three bowls of it!

We also had other dishes which is eqally good like Ma-po Toufu with duck oil, Seafood with toufu in Casserole – which goes so well with the rice and Cabbage. And we end the meal with Sweet Sago cream with Taro milk and cake dessert. The Taro milk it’s really light, refreshing and not too sweet.

Lunch At The Lounge

Before heading to our next location, we had lunch at The Lounge at Silk Place Yilan. They offer a wide variety of food, including beef noodles, Western dishes, light meals, and late-night snacks. We opted for the Western set meal, and the portions were really generous and affordable.

Breakfast At Mix Courmet

In the morning, we had a buffet breakfast on level 6. It featured mostly Taiwanese local dishes, which weren’t too bad. I was especially impressed by the wide selection of drinks available for breakfast. The fresh orange juice machine was even more impressive to the kids because they could manually turn the handle to squeeze fresh orange juice themselves.

Activities Near Silks Place Yilan

Shopping at Carrefour

The hotel is right beside a shopping mall that has a Carrefour. It’s one of my favorite hypermarkets in Taiwan for picking up local snacks. Showing you guys some recommended snacks to buy below!

Morning Market Yilan, GrandPapa

Whenever I visit a new country, I love exploring their morning markets because I believe it’s the easiest and fastest way to understand the locals’ culture and food traditions. Even though I’ve been to Taiwan many times, I still enjoy visiting their morning markets. Each market showcases unique aspects of the local culture and eating habits.

Like the morning market in Yilan, is one of the few morning wet markets in Taiwan that have a blend of Taiwanese and Japanese culture influences.

The hotel has arranged a tour for us with GrandPapa which gave us a guided tour plus DIY experience!

This is GrandPapa, our tour guide for the Morning Market. He is also the founder for Morning Market Yilan Cultural Tour.
Morning Market Yilan
The tour also provide us a cap and a shopping bag, which is iconic symbol of Taiwan Morning Market.

The tour was very fruitful and interesting. The guide explained the culture of the market, introduced local delicacies, and included food sample tastings at some stalls. Some stalls were so generous that they gave us full portions!

Some of the stalls we went…

We also visited a knife shop, which GrandPapa said was like a museum because it showcased a wide variety of knives. The shop also offered sharpening services.

After that, we tried making our own DIY peanut roll ice cream. We visited an old uncle’s stall, where he was busy making rice sheets (popiah skin). We got to taste the freshly made popiah skin and also created our own peanut roll ice cream, which is one of Taiwan’s popular street snacks.

Other recommeded places to visit

We were supposed to go to Jimmy park during our trip, but it was raining. I have research and list down a few of recommended places (less than 20mins via car) to go near Silks Place Yilan to make your trip more fruitful!
