Malaysia is one of the countries we visit most often because it’s so close to Singapore. We usually cross the border by car, although many Singaporeans travel over by bus, train or private hire.
On normal weekdays, my hubby and I sometimes head over for a short break to get a massage, enjoy some good food and do a little grocery shopping.
During the school holidays, we usually bring the kids along and go on road trips around Malaysia instead.

A few things to keep in mind before you go.
East and west coasts can have different monsoon periods, so rainy season in one part of Malaysia doesn’t necessarily mean the whole country will have bad weather. It’s a good idea to check the weather and local conditions for the specific region you are visiting before your trip
Like Singapore, Malaysia is a very hot and humid country. So do dress light, carry an umbralalla, a portable fan and tissue.
Although this has nothing to do with the weather, the tissue comes in handy when you go toilet because most of the toilets don't have tissue, so it will come in handy.
You can download most of the popular apps before going to Malaysia, like Grab for making payment, ordering food and ride hailing. Waze for maps, especially if you are driving for road trips, Google Maps for directions and public transport and WhatsApp.
For Singaporeans, we usually use TNG to make payment in Malaysia. But you can also use cards, as they can be used at most of the hotels, malls and big restaurants. But do change some physical cash, as most of the local eatries accept only cash.
