Planning a 1-year-old birthday celebration + DIY party, is never easy, especially when the sisters want to have a say in their little brother’s party, and that explains why I’m doing the DIY! Finally, all of us decided on the Mickey Mouse theme. Thank god, this makes my job a lot easier, since I’m a Mickey Mouse fan, so I have a lot of equipment ready to use!
Initially, we decided to spend on a dessert table but decided to scrap that. Only because the kids are more interested in the activities they are going to have, and the girls are keen to hands-on, so we did a mini table together.

My lovely fresh cream Mickey Mouse cake from The Cake Shop. The cake generally is not bad, although the cream is too thick, luckily it is not too sweet too. I ordered a strawberry and mixed fruit cake, which I thought will be fresh fruits but is actually jam and canned fruits. Although I’m a little disappointed in this, I still want to give them credit for accepting my order in such short notice and deliver my cake on time and in good condition.
The scariest thing that can happen is your cake doesn’t appear at a birthday event right, with all the horror stories out there! And for the kids, they are happy to keep the mickey mouse and friends figurines. Double happiness!
For the buffet, instead of my usual caterer, I decided to try Foodline to see the varieties of caterer they have. The reason for using Foodline because I can get cashback for the current order and points to offset my next order. Good ok! And I settled for Fusion Spoon Catering. The setup was good, they are on time, most importantly they cater a great portion of food for the number of guests I had!
Most of the guests gave thumbs up for the curry chicken, sweet and sour fish and the spring roll.

Now the exciting part is the kids. Honestly, this segment is really more for the 2 sisters, rather than their little brother. The brother can only get excited and laugh at what they are playing. Hahaha..
We have arranged for a face/body painting from Studioharuto. They run fringe activities for children’s birthday parties and events. Ivy is very sweet looking and patience with kids. So all the kids really sit still and enjoy the artwork painted on their face! My friends even feedback that their children refused to wash it off when they reached home.
Their activities include:
Face painting and hand painting
Glitter tattoo
Arts and craft booth

Next, we have balloon sculpturing from Jessie. She can be contacted at 9385 0337 via whatsapp
Her skills are really amazing and impressive. Even my parents also amazed by it and my dad requested for one balloon. He thinks he still young. Hahaha..

Please follow their Instagram for their latest updated and connect with them for your next party!
The kids had such an enjoyable time with their presence and effort. Being a kids entertainer is not an easy job!
And we end the day with lots of photos and catching up with friends, but for courtesy, I just post my family photo. 😛

Special thanks to Yakult Singapore for the gift and birthday wish card, Studio Haruto, Jessie’s Balloon Sculpturing, Friends and relatives, for making Bo Heng 1-year-old birthday party a memorable one, especially for the sisters. They really enjoyed preparing for it and entertaining our guest and their friends. Thank you for all the gifts (very practical diapers, I like) and the angbaos. 😀
