Indonesia is one of those places I feel we can keep going back to and still discover something completely different each time. We started off visiting Batam and Bintan quite often because it’s so easy to reach from Singapore by ferry, but over the years I have also had the chance to explore places like Yogyakarta, Borobudur and Bromo and every trip has been such a different experience.
What I like about Indonesia is that it’s not just about beaches and resorts. There’s so much culture, nature, good food and plenty of activities that work for families too. And honestly, there are still so many parts of Indonesia that I haven’t explored yet.
So this page is where I’ll be sharing all our Indonesia travel guides, itineraries, stays and little tips from our trips. Hopefully they’ll help you plan yours too!
A few things to keep in mind before you go.
In Indonesia, different regions also have their own cultures, including different languages, food and beliefs.Not all Indonesia are the same, so do your research before going to prevent culture shock!
Even though Indonesia is a tropical country, if you are going to places like Bromo, you will need to bring warmer clothes because highland towns and mountain regions can get very cold.
If you are visiting temples or regligious sites, please dress appropriately or bring a shawl along to cover your shoulders and knees.
Foreigner cards are accepted in hotels, malls and bigger restaurants, but cash is still the main payment mode for most places, especially local eating places, markets and attractions. So do change cash before going.
