China is one of those destinations where every region feels completely different. From the old towns and mountain scenery of Yunnan to the city landscapes and cultural attractions of Guangxi, there is much more variety than many first-time visitors expect. I have travelled through places including Beijing, Shanghai, Kunming, Lijiang, Nanning and Yulin, and each trip has felt very different in pace, scenery and experience.

After having kids, our first family trip to China was to Lijiang. Lijiang left a deep impression on the kids with its beautiful weather, rich culture, and delicious food. Now they are excited to explore even more parts of China!
