Before Coolsculpting.
“Ahyo, where’s your fats? You are so skinny!”
Well, my fats are well hidden under my loose clothes. They will come out and “say hi” if I wear a bikini or body-hugging clothes. I have been quite skinny in my growing-up life, but just couldn’t get rid of the stubborn fats on my tummy, thigh and love handles after giving birth, no matter how hard I work out. It’s partly because of our age, metabolism drop, lifestyle and diet. It will take us a long time to have a flat stomach or nice-looking abs. Even though I have been exercising for a few months, you know girls, we all want quick results.
Liposuction on my tummy is out of the question as I don’t want to take any high-risk procedure. Weight loss supplements are also out of the question as I do not support or encourage one to take them. Dieting is also out of the question since I love to cook and eat. Since I already did my Ultherapy at Halley Medical Aesthetics, I decided to try CoolSculpting Elite at their sister clinic, Halley Body Slimming Clinic.
And if you are wondering if it works? YESS, it does, but results take a while.
Coolsculpting Facts You Need To Know
What is Coolsculpting?
CoolSculpting is a non-surgical, non-invasive, no-downtime fat reduction treatment. It’s the only US FDA-approved fat-freezing treatment that uses the concept of cryolipolysis to freeze and destroy unwanted fat cells, which our immune system clears out the dead fat cells slowly over time.
*What is Coolsculpting Elite?
CoolSculpting Elite is an update from the current CoolSculpting. The new applicator designs allow for better “draw” (aka sucking up the fats), in this way, it increases the percentage of removing unwanted fats. Even though it covers up more skin surfaces but it still feels the same as before.
Instead of the U-shaped, the new applicators are now C-shape and come in 7 different shapes and sizes. This new and improved design fits our body’s natural curve better. In this way, it makes the treatment a lot more comfortable and effective.
The new Coolsculpting Elite machine also can target 2 different treatments at the same time. In this way, it can shorten your treatment and appointment time since multiple areas can be treated at the same time.
How Does It Work?
The treatment removes 20-27% of fat cells in the treated area each time. And because our body is unable to produce any new fat cells after five years of age, the fat cells that die after fat freezing will be gone forever.
That is why CoolSculpting is used to remove unwanted fat, which cannot be removed through spot toning exercises. Areas that can be treated include the abdomen, love handles, inner and outer thighs, arms, bra fat, back, banana roll (butt cheeks), knees, and even the double chin and cheeks.
Is It For Everyone? What is the requirement?
Basically, it suits almost everyone! But if you have any medical condition, best to consult your doctor first!
This treatment doesn’t make you shed a large amount of weight. It’s not a weight loss treatment. It’s body sculpting, so it’s ideal for people who are battling with stubborn fats area like the tummy (mummy belly), double chin and love handles.
How long does it last?
The results are considered permanent, as fat cells are destroyed and permanently eliminated from our bodies. This means that it will be harder for me to regain fat because there will be fewer fat cells left. Hooray! But remember, you still need to keep a healthy lifestyle, because the remaining fat cells still can expand.
My Treatment Journey
Consultation
We definitely have to start off with a consultation to discuss the treatment plan, expectations and what I need to know. I also discussed how much I want to lose, and that will determine how many sessions I need. Everyone is different, but you will need between one to three treatments. This also depends on your body condition, the number of treatment areas, and how your body responds to the treatment.
Dr. Terence Tan prescribed a total of 16 CoolSculpting Elite applicators to treat the stubborn fat on my tummy, flanks, arms, and inner thighs. The treatment highlight of Halley Body Slimming Clinic is QuadSculpting, a fat reduction treatment using four CoolSculpting devices at the same time to reduce treatment time.
During The Treatment
Before the start of the treatment, we took some before photos, weight, and body measurements.
Dr Terence Tan drew on the areas with a stencil, where the CoolSculpting suction pad will go. It’s customised and personalised for every patient in order to achieve optimal results.
First, they apply a gel pad onto the skin, like our face mask. This is to prevent frostbite when freezing happens. Then they will place the handpiece onto the treatment area and I can feel the suction take place but no pain or anything! Depending on the treated area, it will take about 30mins to 40mins. During this time, you can relax, have your meal or just sleep. I do not feel any discomfort or any pain during the treatment. This is my honest truth.
Once the time is up, the therapist will remove the handpiece and the gel pad. When the therapist removed it, I felt very cold on my skin and some discomfort at my tummy skin, maybe because my tummy skin is more sensitive when exposed to room temperature. As for the rest of the area, I felt perfectly alright.
After removing, the therapist massages the treated area for about 2 mins. This helps to speed up the breakdown of the crystallised dead fat cells, which will be passed out by our body naturally. I super love the massage, it did not hurt at all and I secretly hope it can be longer so my fats can break down faster.
After My Treatment
I felt perfectly alright after doing CoolSculpting Elite, except for some tenderness and sensitivity at the treatment area. Although pain threshold varies by people, you definitely can carry out your daily life and routine with no diet restrictions. There is no downtime with CoolSculpting, the next day after my treatment, I continued my F45 (HIIT/ Circuit) training with no issues.
There is no need for painkillers or numbing cream. The tenderness lasted for about almost a month, but this doesn’t affect my daily exercise and activity at all. It’s better to wear loose clothing on the day of treatment and a few weeks after.
My CoolSsculpting Elite results
This is the most important part, which everyone is looking forward to!
Did I see any results? YES. Definitely, but not immediately.
CoolSculpting results are meant to be subtle, as our body takes time to flush out our dead fat cells. Time is taken also varies from the individual body, generally results from CoolSculpting are expected three months after treatment.
The obvious results came after 2 months,I can feel my pants loosen up a lot and I can wear more body-hugging clothes, and I need to downsize my gym pants.
How much does CoolSculpting Elite Cost & Is It Worth it?
You can see the price list listed in Halleys. I will be doing 16 CoolSculpting cycles (area), each cycle is $590. I have so far completed 8 cycles (area), going to do the remaining 8 in end Feb 2022.
CoolSsculpting helps me achieve my body goals through non-invasive, no downtime body treatments that are medically proven, safe, and effective. For me, who doesn’t want to go under the knife and wants to get rid of my stubborn fat areas, it is totally helpful for me.
Remember CoolSsculpting is a fat-reduction treatment and not a weight-reduction treatment.
