Children’s Museum Singapore opened in Dec 2022 but booking the tickets is difficult! Thanks to hubby we managed to secure tickets to go in April 2023! I will share my tips below on how to secure tickets.
About Children’s Museum Singapore
The Children’s Museum Singapore is an interactive museum designed for children between 1 and 12 years old. It offers a range of exhibits and activities that are both fun and educational, with a focus on developing creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
It is a unique and exciting destination for families and school groups, providing a fun and engaging learning experience for children of all ages. They also offer a range of programs and workshops throughout the year, as well as special events and exhibitions.
Highlights of the Museum
This level of the exhibition is a permanent exhibition. At this level, the kids will learn more about the jobs in Singapore, be creative with their stamp design and transfer it to the screen. Moving to the market area, kids can role-play different trades like the textile seller, barber, mama diam and vegetable seller.
Moving in is the history of Singapore, where it teleports the kids to different periods of Singapore. The kids can learn how to pull up a sack! They can also smell some of the herbs and spices commonly used in Singapore.
At level 2, are the special exhibitions where they will change regularly (but not sure when, so do check their website for more details). At this level, the exhibitions here are a lot more interactive and much more fun for the kids. They get to play, climb, smell, role-play, listen, build and play multimedia games.
Tips Before Going To The Museum
The tickets to the museum are free (at the time on writing) for Singapore Citizens and Permanent Residents. For tourists, the adult is $15 per ticket and $10 for the child. You can get a family package of $40 for 2 adults and 2 children.
Overall my kids enjoyed the Children’s Museum and we don’t mind going back again if we manage to get the tickets. 1hr 45mins of play seems just nice for them and I can’t wait to see what they will be coming out with at their special exhibition.
Tips:
- Tickets are available for booking 1 month before, but I suggest checking the website every morning around 8 am to see if there are any available slots for booking.
- Book at 9 am time slot if you prefer a lesser crowd.
- Walk-in is possible but it doesn’t guarantee, so I suggest doing the walk-in at 9 am on Saturday. In any case, if you are not able to go into the museum, at least you can still go to the fire station.
- You can park your car at the open space car park beside the Peranakan Museum which is opposite the Children’s Museum or at Funan Mall. For public transport, you can visit their website for more info.
- Do check their website for ongoing activities and events. Both paid and free. Booking is required too.
- There are water coolers and nursing rooms in the Museum.
After The Museum Trip
If your booking is at 11 am or 2 pm, you can go to Central Fire Station and Civil defence gallery before going to Children’s Museum. For museum timing at 9 am, you can only make it for the Civil Defence gallery as the time slot for fire station visiting is 9-950am and 10-1050am. It’s just a less than 2 mins walk from the Children’s museum.
After the heritage tour, you can cross over to Funan Mall, level 7 to visit their urban farm.
If you are game for an outdoor adventure and play, you can walk to Fort canning park (about 3 mins walk) and have a picnic over there!
