台湾老街 Taiwan Old street

Sorry for the late updates!! Lets continue on our journey after we left the airport!

大溪老街 and 深坑 (桃园 “Taoyuan”)

In the 18th century, Takoham is used for trading between Taiwan and the south by the Dahan river. In the 1920, The Japanese government then renamed the place as 大溪 “Dasi”.
Dasi is famous for dried beancurd products which is a popular taiwan dish.

On our way to Dasi, I always like Taiwan tour bus because they have wonderful karaok system (although my singing is horrible) and lady tour guide serving you nice hot tea..

My lovely grandparents.. They are still quite fit, walking a long flight of stairs without panting. Not like we youngsters.

Old temple. You can see lots of temple in Taiwan. They are quite a believer in gods and deity

Streets of Dasi. Over there you can enjoy the good workcraftship of furnitures and buildings.

Over there you can see lots of this bird nest. The people see this as a symbols of luck.

Can’t remember where is this place, but once we walk to the other side of the streets we saw this nice building. 🙂

After Daxi, we went over to 深坑 “Shenkeng” to have over dinner. This area is a low land area and the area used to have active coal mines. Thats how they got their name.
Over here like “Dasi” are famous for another beancurd ~ 臭豆腐 “Smelly beancurd”.

This 2 areas are famous for beancurd due to the water doesn’t contains iron and also instead of using the usual gypsum they use traditional *bittern “盐卤“
*the bitter water solution of bromides, magnesium, and calcium salts remaining after sodium chloride is crystallized out of seawater.

After that we went to hotel to had supper and have a good night rest!

Went to a nearby night market to buy supper, chicken feet, pig blood, chicken backside etc..
